Dr. Curtese Holmes, is a product of the Ferguson Florissant School District. After high school, Curtese went on to pursue higher education at Missouri Western State University, where she received a B.S. in Computer Information Systems. After working in the field, she decided to explore other careers. Dr. Holmes was introduced to substitute teaching in the Jennings School District and fell in love with education. After this experience, Curtese completed her Masters in Special Education at Fontbonne University, obtained an Ed.S in Leadership from Webster University, and earned a doctoral degree from Missouri Baptist University.
Dr. Holmes has amassed 20 years of classroom/leadership experience. She has served as a Special Services Teacher, School Improvement Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Principal in both elementary and secondary settings.
Dr. Holmes has educational beliefs that encompass the learning of all students. She understands how circumstances, environment, and personal situations can affect academic achievement; especially when compounded with cognitive challenges. Curtese has taught in “transformational schools” located in urban areas characterized by extreme poverty, transient populations, and limited resources. Dr. Holmes understands the importance of empathy, equity, and inclusive practices, and their impact on self-awareness/actualization. Her goal is to disrupt mental models rooted in negative biases, dismantle false narratives, and empower others to become change agents for social action in the community while fostering a lifelong love for learning. Dr. Holmes is excited to join the extraordinary team at Rose Mary Johnson Jennings Junior High School. She is looking forward to collaborating with everyone, and continuing the amazing work that is being done by upholding the educational philosophies, vision, and goals of the school/district.
